According to the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy, massage therapists are required to complete a specified amount of continuing education classes from an approved provider in order to maintain their certification. The amount of continuing education that is required in the state of North Carolina is determined by the licensure period.
- Licensure period is less than two years – minimum of 12 hours of continuing education
- Licensure period is more than two years – minimum of 24 hours of continuing education
